In-4 (188 x 260 mm), engraved illustrated title, partially colored, 88 pp, (1) f. (privilege), and 79 engraved plates.

Contemporary marbled calf, spine ribbed and decorated with flowers, burgundy morocco title-piece, framed with a triple cold fillet on the boards, double gilt fillet on the edges. (Hinges partially split, upper headband frayed, edges and corners rubbed.)

First edition of this important work devoted to jewelry.

It includes a treatise on precious stones, semi-precious stones and precious metals, a catalog of authors who have dealt with the knowledge of precious stones, a chronological table of the main orders of Europe, the biography of the main goldsmiths and the history of the six bodies of merchants.

The illustration is composed of a title-frontispiece by Painger engraved by Courtois and 79 plates with several figures, engraved by Mademoiselle Raimbau: models of Brasselets, Boetes à portraits, Girandolles, Boucles à fleurs, Fontanges, Agrafes à corps, Boucles de souliers, Colliers, Nœuds, Rings, Snuffboxes, Watches, Combs, Bâtons d'éventails, and various orders.
