In-folio, frontispiece, (4)-176 pages. Contemporary marbled calf, spine ornamented, boards decorated with a rich gilt lace and olive-painted tracery, embellished with rocaille motifs, archbishop's coat of arms in the center of each, lace on the edges and around the counterplates, gilt edges.
Beautiful Italian printing of the Roman Canon published under the auspices of Pope Benedict XIV.
It is illustrated with an engraved frontispiece after Sebastiano Conca, 16 full-page figures, numerous engraved lettering and culs-de-lampe. The text is printed in black and red in a black double fillet frame.
This is a very fine wax binding with the arms of Cardinal Giovanni Carlo Bandi (1709-1784), uncle of Pope Pius VI, appointed cardinal in 1775.
