SET OF SIX WOODEN ENGRAVINGS monogrammed CVS representing the Martyrdom of Eleazar, Jesus seated in heaven, the Preaching of St. John the Baptist, the Appearance of Christ to St. Paul, the Armageddon and the Annunciation taken from the Biblia Sacra. These engravings are from the Biblia Sacra published in Antwerp and Amsterdam in 1657, also known as the van Sichem Bible in reference to the engraver Christoffel van Sichem II, author of the 1240 woodcuts, some of which were after Albrecht Dürer, Lucas van Leyden, or Hendrik Golzius.
A complete copy of this Bible is in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York (no. 45.37) and several engravings are in the San Francisco Museum of Fine Arts, including two from this series (no. 1963.30.15128, no. 1963.30.15120).
