He answered by the last mail to the main points of the last dispatch of His Eminence, about "the invest[iture] of Naples for the general and the abbot TENCIN and his employ for the private individual" [it is about the investiture of Charles VI, the Spaniards having to evacuate the kingdoms of Naples and Sicily by virtue of the treaty of 1720 between Spain and the allies]. He rejoices "that my reconciliation with
M. le C[ardina]l DUBOIS can be of some pleasure to V.E. My p[remi]er care in arriving in Paris where I cannot hope before
Pasques will be to cultivate the friendship that V.E. has been good enough to bind with so much kindness and care between M. le Cl de RO HAN and me and to seek with him all possible means to serve V.E. in everything and by everything
. Of which I will give him a very particular account. I am occupied with the visits of more than 50 Great of Spain and of a 12th of Ch[evaliers] of the Golden Fleece to complete as soon as possible the two ceremonies of my children [Saint-Simon had obtained for them the Golden Fleece] that I cannot for today to extend me of advantage that by begging her to be persuaded that I feel until the bottom of the heart the so obliging terms of the confidence of which it honors me "...
