ZOLA Émile (1840-1902).
L.A.S. "Emile Zola", Paris June 12, 1865, to a journalist of L'Avenir national| 2 1/2 pages in-8 on the letterhead of Librairie Hachette et Cie.
He is looking for a newspaper to welcome his pen. "For a long time, I have been knocking at the door of L'Avenir National, which is very slow to open. At this very moment, Mr. Peyrat has an article of mine in his hands, whose fate I do not yet know. You have kindly promised me your support, and I commend myself to you. I know that your mission is to encourage young people, and you also told me that you would be pleased to see several editors of Variety in the National Future. Please be so kind as to help me a little in my struggle, and to obtain for me an answer which I dare not seek myself. He dares to "ask for a second favour. I venture to say to you very low that I would be very grateful if you had the opportunity to say a few words about my Contes [Contes à Ninon] in l'Avenir, which has not yet mentioned them"... [Zola published 21 articles in L'Avenir national, from February to June 1873].
