Rare letter about building a railroad.
He regrets not having had the pleasure of seeing him, about their project. He has considered the layout of the line in this way, as he does not want to encroach on any playground. He has abandoned the route along the river as he is sure to meet with strong opposition in that neighbourhood| his plan is to obtain a lease from the owners of the land with the possibility of drawing up a deed for a certain period without reference to Parliament. If no one comes along to thwart his plan, he has great hopes of convincing the owners of the land to go along with his views. He will simply begin by creating a coal line, and for the transportation of the products of the country it may be necessary to say that they will begin with horse-power. However, he will be guided by the opinion of the owners of the land, if they are willing to join in the project. He proposes a meeting at his house, the day after the meeting in Norwich...
