HAHN REYNALDO (1874-1947) COMPOSITEUR

L.A.S., "6 rue du Cirque" Wednesday, August 9 [1893 ?, to singer Jacques ISNARDON (1860-1930)]| 4 pages in-12.

Nice letter about his first melodies.

His expression of sympathy flatters and touches him. "Offrande, I confess, is, among my humble compositions, one of those which seem to me to deserve above all the attention of artists: nothing could therefore be more agreeable to me than the approval of an artist such as yourself. - I have done my best to give it an entirely literary character, thinking that, in intimate melody, music should play a subordinate role and be limited to supporting the beautiful verses. I will ask Mr Heugel to send you tomorrow my little collection entitled Chansons grises, composed entirely on poems by VERLAINE| you will find the same tendency in it as in Offrande. I don't need to tell you how happy I am to have you as an interpreter| it is a good boon for a young beginner"...

Attached is a L.A.S. requesting an appointment (letterhead Pleyel Wolff Lyon & Cie pianos et harpes).
