Half pink boards, smooth burgundy morocco spines titled, tomé and decorated with gilt fillets.
First edition containing the 201 beautiful engraved plates hors-texte (without frontispieces) after the paintings which passed through the hands of the great art dealer Le Brun, husband of Elisabeth Vigée.
A fine copy with large margins, with the arms, but before the titles of the paintings.
1st volume: xiii-96 pp. on blue paper| 88 plates. (scattered foxing) 2nd volume: 107 pp. on blue paper. 97 pl. (some plates browned, pp. 23-24 torn, heavy wetness at beginning of volume with affecting pitting).
3rd volume: 65 pp. on blue paper. 16 plates. (some foxing and browning).
