In-12 (150 x 90 mm), [6]-136 pp. Cherry red jansenist morocco, spine titled and dated, double gilt fillet on the edges, large inner lace, gilt edges (binding signed Gruel).
First edition of this comedy-ballet, performed for the first time on October 6, 1669 at the Château de Chambord, in front of Louis XIV.
This play was then presented to the public at the Théâtre du Palais-Royal on November 15 of the same year by the Troupe du Roy. It was a great success.
This work by Molière is "extremely rare" (Le Petit), "one of the rarest of Molière's comedies" according to Guibert.
