‘NYMPH’ RING

Enamel and 18-carat gold (750) ring
, signed and numbered – circa 1900
Diameter: 53 mm – Weight: 10.8 g
An enamel and gold ring, signed Georges Fouquet

Freely inspired by nature, Art
Nouveau—with its curves and arabesques—placed women at the centre of its focus. This graceful woman, with her delicate movements, dancing beneath the canopy of leaves, embodies the aesthetic of this artistic movement.
Much like the women depicted in Alfons Mucha’s posters, she seems to emerge from the floral frame that surrounds her.
Georges Fouquet (1862–1957), the famous Parisian jeweller, set out to revitalise the style of the jewellery house he had inherited from his father in 1895.
By combining his talent with that of the artist
Alfons Mucha, he ushered his jewellery into a new era. Georges
Fouquet’s boutique on Rue Royale was a temple dedicated to Art Nouveau. Now reconstructed at the Carnavalet Museum, this setting invites visitors to immerse themselves in the Paris of the Belle Époque.
