FLAUBERT Gustave (1821-1880)
L.A.S. to his "good Laure". S.l.n.d. 2 pp. bi-foil in-8.
L.A.S. from Flaubert to Laure, mother of Guy de Maupassant, in which he mentions George Sand. (...) Alas, no! I will not go to Etretat.
I will hardly have time to go to Dieppe on Sunday. I am short of words to Du Camp (...) and to Mrs Sand. "But death is stronger than anything. That Bouillet who upset my life disturbed my holiday plans (...). How I thought of my poor Alfred all these days. But when I lost him I was younger and more robust than today! I feel too old and tired to the marrow of my bones."
