In-folio (520 x 365 mm). Half aubergine morocco with corners, smooth spine with faux-nerve decoration and titled "Recueil d'oiseaux" (period binding).
A volume comprising 70 plates used for the Histoire naturelle des oiseaux de paradis, des rolliers, suivie de celles des toucans et des barbus de François Levailland, engraved by Perée and Gremilliet (Paris, chez Denné et Perlet, 1806).
Nice proofs, probably trial proofs before the letter printed in black, except for two plates printed in colour ("Momot dombé. N°39", proof with letter and "Pie de paradis ou l'incomparable mâle", proof before letter, folded plate). Most of the plates are titled and numbered in pencil.
