Green morocco, boards decorated with green and brown branches and purple flowers with gilt buttons mosaicked in a frame of blue and brown morocco fillets, spine titled gilt, tobacco morocco spine flaps decorated with two green morocco fillets, one decorated in the spandrels with red flowers and their intertwined foliage outlined in gold, the whole outlined in gold, green silk endpapers, marbled paper counterguards, gilt edges, cover and spine preserved, flap folder and matching green morocco and marbled paper case (Marius Michel).
Copy of Descamps-Scrive, one of the rare copies on China paper not in trade.
First edition of this modern illustrated book decorated with 20 original etchings by Louis Legrand in double state, including the cover and 16 in colour printed in the register, and drawings in the text.
Publisher's prospectus at the end of the volume (4 pp.) mounted on tabs with a "black engraving to be printed in colour on the spot".
