Half orange morocco with corners, smooth spine titled in gold and decorated with a champagne bucket with cold edges, gilt head, pink marbled paper endpapers, cover and spine preserved (binding signed P.-L. Martin).
First edition on large paper illustrated with 16 off-text colour figures and headbands by André DIGNIMONT. Edition of 575 copies, this one of the 545 on Montgolfier vellum (n° 407).
Author's autograph letter on the title page.
This copy is enriched with an original pen and watercolour drawing by Dignimont representing a couple sitting at a gaming table, with an autograph dedication signed: "in memory of the good life [...]
Marthe Richard hoping that she will come back".
Attached is a gouache signed at the bottom left by J. Galtier-Boissière representing a ball scene (19 x 24 cm)
