ORIGINAL EDITION of this drama which was first performed on March 15, 1900 at the Sarah-Bernhardt Theatre, with Sarah
Bernhardt in the lead role of the Duke of Reichstadt.
Autograph letter signed by the author, in blue ink on the title page: "to Roger Souan, very cordial letter from Edmond Rostand / ...
Working at my narrow table, working / To be each day more worthy of signing! E. R».
At the end of the volume is an autograph poem signed in brown ink by H[ugues] Delorme, titled "Janvier 1919". This poem contains 14 verses dedicated to Edmond Rostand: "The nose in the air, plume on the forehead, rapier in the fist / With all his spirit and all his tenderness, / More than ever alive, Cyrano rises again / To trumpet the verses that will not perish. [...] The shadow of Coquelin and the shadow of Rostand".
