Original edition illustrated with a frontispiece after Eugène Devéria, engraved by Godefroy, Le Sylphe.
Attached to this volume is a L.A.S. ("this Saturday", 1 p. in-12 in brown ink, folds, freckles) addressed to Alfred [de Vigny] : "Here is my other child, dear Alfred, love him for all those who will not love him, that is to say, for everybody. Would you be good enough to have the other copy sent to the address of Soumet, whom I do not know.
He is, you told me, your neighbour. A thousand pardons, but a thousand friendships and a thousand admirations, Victor".
