Paris, Alphonse Lemerre, 1873. Fort in-4 (27 x 18,5 cm), untrimmed, covers and spine (dated 1872) preserved, bound in white vellum, painted on the upper cover, smooth spine with gilt title and emblem (E. Carayon).

MEYER decorated with two paintings by Albert ROBIDA, and full of documents.
One of the 50 copies on Hollande paper (n° 17), the only one printed on large paper after 5 Chine and a parchment printing.
Monumental homage to gastronomy, and Dumas' last work, decorated with 2 etched portraits by Rajon (Dumas and the cook Denis-Joseph Vuillemot. The novelist was known by his entourage for his gigantic appetite and his real talents as a cook. In addition to the famous Dictionary, the book contains a reprint of Grimod de La Reynière's gastronomic calendar, various menus composed according to the seasons or the number of covers by Dugléré of the Café Anglais, Verdier of the Maison Dorée,
Magny, Vuillemot of the Tête Noire, Brébant, the Maison Potel et Chabot, and in the appendices, a few advertisements for the goldsmith Christofle, the pork butcher Franquelin, the canned food company Daudens...., and a long study on Bornibus mustard.
Painted binding by Albert ROBIDA, representing Dumas dressed as a musketeer and cooking (slight pitting on the binding).
