Full tan calf, spine decorated with gilt fleurons, red morocco title-pieces, gilt edges, inner gilt border, marbled paper endpapers (period binding).
One of the first editions of these memoirs that Courtilz de Sandras wrote from the papers of the famous musketeer, who died at the siege of Maastricht in 1673. Alexandre Dumas drew much of his inspiration from them to write his masterpieces Les Trois mousquetaires and
Vingt ans après.
