Exceptional rectangular diptych sundial in gilt brass. The lid indicates the latitudes of 60 cities and the date it was manufactured: Anno 1584. The maker's signature appears inside the lid - Horho pas fecit Alexius SCHNIEP - with a lunar calendar. The horizontal table is engraved with a scale of hours and contains a compass whose base is engraved with a large sun. Two dynamic dolphins support a weight designed to place it in a horizontal position. The case is engraved with foliage.
