SIEVEKING, Hamburg 19 August 1796| 2 pages and a quarter in-4, and 1 page and a quarter in-4 with address.
Announcement of his marriage to General Buonaparte.
"The widow of Alexandre Beauharnais dear General owes it to your friendship to give her an account of his change of state, for three months I have united my destiny to that of General Buonaparte, who at that time was already advantageously known in the military career since the
Revolution since from that moment on all his steps were marked by the happiest successes at the head of the brave army of Italy where he was called by the executive board| I feel a very great satisfaction in seeing the way in which he justifies the choice of the government. The army of Italy has just dictated peace to the King of Sardinia and reduced Beaulieu to fleeing from Italy with the rest of his army. I am leaving incessantly to join my husband in Milan and perhaps further afield| may I bring him back soon when the general pacification has confirmed the Republic for ever! May you too soon return to the seas and find yourselves together, happy with the public prosperity prepared by your triumphs"... She recommended General RICARD to the Minister| Rochambeau too will find in him a true friend. "Counting always, kind general, on the benevolence you have shown me, I am not afraid to recommend my interests to you again, I beg you in grace to have the shipments of the sugar you will have managed to sell me for the republic, and the income of the Lacul dwelling situated in Leogane, made to Mr. Sieveking in Hamburg. He is a friend of mine, he has the kindness to take charge of receiving everything that will come for me from the colonies, he must write to you to tell you how to send him the shipments" .
