L.A.S. "G. B. Haussmann", Paris 18 June 1889, to Philippe GILLE, au Figaro| 2 pages in-8 with his crowned figure, envelope with countersignature (2 light freckles).
On his Memoirs. He would like to talk to him about his Memoirs, of which he has finished two volumes: "the first, done after the second, sums up my entire career before the Prefecture of the Seine, [...]".the other one explains the whole situation I was faced with at the Town Hall, the difficulties it created for my mission, the complex work I was given to accomplish almost entirely, and the financial plan which allowed me, despite all the obstacles and bad wishes, to reach my goal"... He made several chapters in the third volume, and a fourth, if he does so, "will speak of the causes which brought about the end of my administration, political causes especially, and of the final catastrophe, which I witnessed. I will end it with some ignored documents"... Repugnant to "risk compromising the lull that has been created around my name", he seeks the opinion of a former collaborator who knows "all the reports of the publicity" ...
