P.S. "Cesar", Rome at the Apostolic Palace [Vatican] July 17, 1503| countersigned "Abasyt" (?) and large manual seal| 1 page large in-fol. (46.7 x 34.2 cm), seal with arms under paper (browning and yellowing, some gaps filled, two of which in the text, cracks restored)| in Italian.
Very rare and precious document of the Prince at the height of his power.
[Caesar Borgia was preparing to conquer Tuscany, but one month after this document, his father and protector, Pope Alexander VI, died, causing the fall of Caesar]. "Caesar Borgia de Francia", Duke of Romagna and Valentino, Prince of Andria and Venafro, Gonfalonier and Captain General of the
Holy Roman Church, informs the commanders of the citadels ("Castellani delle nostre Rocche") in his states of Romagna and Urbino, that he appointed his chancellor Herculano TORELLI as auditor in charge of the accounts and the inventory of arms, artillery, ammunition, provisions (grain and victuals), and guards in these citadels. The commanders are requested to give Torelli all the necessary assistance to carry out this count, with a ban on diminishing forces and resources, "sotto pena del doppio & de la nostra indignatione" .
