RARE WRITING TABLE
in various wood veneers. The tray presents
a beautiful marquetry of interior decoration
on a checkerboard background in a frame
of draperies and nets| frieze on the perimeter
of rosettes and tulips. It opens with a drawer
in the belt and a side pull opener revealing
a sheathed writing surface. The belt
also inlaid with a decoration to
instruments is decorated with an astragal
in gilt bronze. It rests on four legs
sheath underlined by a wood marquetry
stained green.
Stamped J. CAUMONT, received master
in 1774.
