TAXILE DOAT (1851-1939) POUR LA MANUFACTURE DE SEVRES VASE " CARNIER DE DIANE " In enamelled porcelain, with a paste-on-paste decoration of a frieze symbolizing greyhounds running after a hare, underlined by an orange trimmings pattern, framed by green water and gold cabochons. Signed TDoat in the decoration and stamped "S -98" and "RF - Décorated at Sèvres -98" on the reverse of the base. Height 22.5 cm A decorative celadon green enamelled porcelain plaque entitled "Les enjôleurs" is attached. Signed and dated 1881 on the back. Provenance Private collection, Paris History The vase called "Carnier de Diane" entered the catalogue of the Manufacture de Sèvres in December 1898. The design and execution are due to Taxile Doat; the ornament and decoration to Henri-Louis Ulrich. A copy was presented at the Universal Exhibition in Paris in 1900. Bibliography E.
