2nd issue of this monthly review containing four original monogrammed prints in black by Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, numbered in pencil at the bottom left: Floréal (n° 105/450), Ce que dit la pluie (n° 127/450), Le Fou (n° 129/450) and Berceuse (n° 182/450).
L'Estampe moderne was founded by the publisher Henri Piazza and the art critic Charles Masson, future director of the Musée de Luxembourg. It appeared 24 issues from May 1897 to April 1899, each illustrated with 4 unpublished serpentine prints with captions by the greatest artists of the time such as Alphonse Mucha, Edward Burne-Jones, Théophile-Alexandre
Steinlen, Henri Bellery-Desfontaines, Henri Martin and Pierre
Puvis de Chavannes. Each work was an exclusive commission for the magazine.
