It was on the occasion of his engagement in the First World War that the idea of writing Suzanne et le Pacifique, published in 1921, was born in the mind of Jean Giraudoux. He was inspired by Defoe's novel, Robinson Crusoe, and in turn wrote the story of a shipwreck, that of a young woman from Bellac, Suzanne.
In all his writings, the writer made birds, flowers and animals speak for themselves, since he considered that love of nature was an essential dimension of human life. He will always evoke the seasons, especially spring.
His work Suzanne and the Pacific was perfectly in line with this tradition since the personal journey to which he invited his character, testified to the manifestation of all the seasons.
