His beloved Honore [his wife Honorine] leaves tomorrow, and the separation afflicts him, but is necessary: she brings back her brother [François-Auguste Anthoine de Saint-Joseph] "torn from the most desolate captivity", and she carries within her the fruit of their union. He praises the qualities of this angel, then speaks of the local situation: "The Emperor has just again sent me congratulations, [...] H.M. intends to give me signs of his benevolence. [......] I continue to wage war, I am every day at war, and on every occasion I take great care to make known through printed agendas, the conduct of each one, this measure is indispensable to maintain the emulation of a body, in which everything was almost extinct| Fortunately, things have changed in fact, to let you judge for yourself, I am sending you a copy of my last report to the Emperor, I speak to him neither of my operations nor of my political measures, I limit myself to going into [details] which he likes to know and which are likely to please him.
