Concern about an English expedition against France.
[Count Charles d'Angoulême (1459-1496, father of the future Francis I) was appointed governor of Guyenne in 1489]. "Trescher and tresame cousin. Presently we have had news about the English who, as it is said, are on the sea of the cousin of Normandy in grant number of ships, and it is not known where they want to go down.
Of this cause you are opposed to it because of the cousin of Guienne you give such a good promise that from that part we cannot have dommaige as well as will know how to do it well and that in you have perfect confidence. And let us take away the guns of our ordinances and keep good garrisons..."...
