L.A.S. "Mr. de Humboldt" (in the lead), Sunday, to Emmanuel de LAS CASES son, and DRAWING in graphite| ¾ page in-8 and 1 oblong page in-8
"Mr. de Humboldt is extremely sad to see Mr. Baron de Las Cases leave Berlin, without having been able to say a word of friendship to him and without being able to ask him for news of his excellent and worthy father". He made an appointment to meet him that evening at his home, or to come the next day to his Hotel in Brandenburg in the morning, "Mr. de H. being probably obliged to follow the King to Potsdam that very morning. He fears that he may become quite indiscreet, which is what sometimes happens to travellers"...
Hastily drawn map in pencil of a part of Brazil with the course of the Amazon, annotated by Las Cases in pencil: "from the hand of Mr. de Humboldt. 5 Jan. 1827".
