"I hope that V E will be kind enough to grant me the grace to take care of my very humble apologies to the
King for not being present at the Candlemas ceremony. The best I dare not risk the trip again.
M. de SEPTFONTS, who knows my walk and who believed that I had the honour of seeing V E in this fest, has charged me with the task of testifying to him well, all the while acknowledging the kindness and help of V E".... As for M. de SAINTE-MAURE, "who goes by echelons, [...] I also count on V E to give me marks for a Regiment that I desire with as much passion, on the occasions of the next ones that may come, and I support myself by this confidence"...
