Émile DESCHANEL (1819-1904) had been Baudelaire's classmate at Louis-le-Grand| he had devoted, in the Journal des Débats of October 15, 1864, a large part of his article "Les Villonistes" to the Flowers of Evil, recalling their camaraderie, and quoting some unpublished verses from his youth]. "This is my last volume of OCB. Do you have the others: Extraordinary Stories,
New Extraordinary Stories, Adventures of Arthur Gordon
Pym, and Eureka? Fredericx told me yesterday (March 14th) that you wrote about the Flowers of Evil in the Debates". He couldn't find that and asked for two copies of the newspaper: "Quickly, quickly. This is very important, and I don't have time to explain why. Imagine that I leafed through three months of the Debates collection, but to no avail.
