He asks Wey to apologize to COURBET: "It was impossible for me to make the trip to the rue Hautefeuille| moreover the framing of the painting would bother me at this moment. It's sad, but that's"...
At the bottom of the page, F. Wey noted in pencil: "Berlioz having refused it, I had it framed, & Courbet donated it... to Chenavard"...
