From the beginning of the 18th century, the hunting horn
is introduced to opera and in
instrumental music. The instrument evolves:
the length of the tube can be modified
allowing a modification of the tones.
At the end of the century, the horn becomes an integral part
of the orchestra. The natural horn or wind horn
is used throughout the classical
and romantic period. Founded by Louis Raoux,
the House of Raoux has marked over five generations
the history of wind instrument making
wind instruments in France from the 17th to the 19th century
. This family is best known for
its major role in the evolution of the hunting trumpet
from hunting horn to orchestral instrument.
