to the number of the Emperor Napoleon I in
its original case. In chiselled gold, oval in shape.
Hinged lid bearing in the centre,
on a background of a basketry-style grid,
the number N. It is composed of two palms
ending in acanthus leaves,
in a cartouche on an amati gold background encircled
with a garland of laurels and framed by a floral frieze
in blue enamel. Surrounding area decorated in sequence,
decorated with four enamelled rosettes, background decorated
with a wickerwork grid surrounded
by two blue enamelled friezes, one of dots,
the other of flowers.

This punch, unofficial, was used by
the Parisian goldsmiths on their productions
of second title gold, very often
of luxury pieces. It can be found on the sword
by Austerlitz or the sword of the Duke of San Carlos
by Biennais or the large necklace of the Legion
of Honour of the 2nd type preserved in the Museum
of the Legion of Honour.

Original case
Oval shape covered with red morocco,
lined with purple silk, lid
mounted on hinges closing by two
hooks. It is worth noting the extremely rare character
of the presence of the case whose known snuffboxes
are usually dissociated.
