, great misfortunes have overwhelmed me and above all have
untied links that I must believe to be indissoluble by judging them on the
protests which are lavished on me while fortune granted me its favours
| I cannot however push back the conviction that for you the
chain of St. Helena is not broken and I am convinced that the fraternity that
the paternal friendship of the Great Man created between you and me, will find
all its empire"... He expects from him "a brotherly service": the loan of one thousand
francs...
