A lot of old and personal scores are attached (Recueil des Romances et petits airs choisis arranged by the Tiran brothers - 20 Duos for two horns, by Fréderic Duvernoy).
From the beginning of the 18th century, the hunting horn was introduced into opera and instrumental music. The instrument evolves: the length of the tube can be modified allowing a modification of the tones. At the end of the century, the horn became an integral part of the orchestra. The natural horn or French horn is used throughout the classical and romantic period.
Founded by Louis Raoux, the House of Raoux has left its mark on the history of wind instrument making in France over five generations from the 17th to the 19th century. This family is best known for its major role in the evolution of the hunting horn into an orchestral instrument.
