Rare pair of ewers with griffins of stylized shape in patinated and finely chiselled gilt bronze resting on a pedestal. The body of the ewer, baluster-shaped and slightly tapered, is decorated in its center with a gilt bronze rim, a frieze of palmettes applied to the shoulder and base, and a frieze of acanthus leaves. The griffin-headed handles are decorated at the mid-point with a flower and acanthus leaves. Base of Morello cherry-red marble Around 1800
