Succeeding his father François, Bernard-François Vaugeois is a table maker from 1793. Benefiting from the "Loi le Chapelier" promulgated on June 14, 1791, which abolished corporations, he opened a shop on rue des Arcis. Like his colleague Martin-Guillaume Biennais (1764 -1843), a goldsmith and official supplier to the Emperor, whose shop was called "Au Singe Violet" near the Tuileries, he chose to call his own shop "Au Singe Vert". Vaugeois then enjoyed a rich clientele. Like his father, he continued to produce games objects and accessories: board games and game tables, as well as pieces of furniture in mahogany veneer. Our small master piece of furniture is the perfect illustration of his work.
