Pair of elegant Jiao Yi folding armchairs with horseshoe backrests, made of Jimichu wood (Ormosia hosiei), the finely carved and openworked backs of qilin observing the sacred pearl among stylized ruyi clouds, a lingzhi at the feet, and a dragon in a medallion in the shape of a ruyi scepter. The footrests are adorned with interlaced rhombuses reminiscent of an endless knot, and with lingzhi, longevity mushrooms cut from brass plates.

They can be compared to the classical forms of the Ming period, notably from the Shanghai Museum, illustrated by Wang Shixiang in "Mobilier chinois", n°58 page 156, Edition du Regard, 1986.
