Félia Litvinne, whose real name is Françoise-
Jeanne Shültz, was born in St
. Petersburg and studied music in Paris with Pauline Viardot,
Tugeniev's muse. Harlamoff was a real father to her and made her legal heiress. The painter made numerous portraits of the Wagnerian singer, whom he depicts here in the casual simplicity of everyday life.
