Rectangular cast-iron box with a domed lid, in imitation of lacquer boxes with interlocking lids, the decoration in gold lacquer takamaki-e with branches of magnolia, lotus and vines on the sides, the lid decorated with a bird and hollyhocks as well as a bronze knotted rope, imitating that of lacquer boxes| the interior in reddish-brown moire lacquer and gold.
