MONET Claude. (1840-1926).

L.A.S. "your Claude", to Alice HOSCHEDÉ. [Belle-Île] Tuesday morning [November 9, 1886]. 4 pp. small in-8 (slight cracks repaired).
Very interesting letter to his wife-to-be about his work on Belle-Île. It was a great day at work yesterday, and the weather was superb. I was a bit wound up and promised myself a lot of work for today, but this morning the sun is veiled. I hope so, though. So much evil, and now every bad day is a heartbreak for me. Finally. I've got a lot of letters to do. I'm taking advantage of this morning because I have to think about my executives because it would be too late to return. It's very difficult, not knowing what I'll be able to exhibit, nor only if the exhibition will take place, being always without news. He expects to be back in a week: I can't exceed this limit, so it's only a few more days to wait (...) I wanted to write to RENOIR to stop by Petit's but I realize that I gave you his letter containing his address, so don't fail to send it to me (...). He gives instructions on how to replant the chrysanthemums in the vegetable garden. If he survives a few hollyhocks, let's take care of him. Kisses to all
