Signed coin dated (Guernsey) June 1870, addressed to Mr. Émile VERET farmer in Vincelotte, near Auxerre in the Yonne. Small booklet made up of 15 sheets petit in-12, printed in Jersey in January 1853, reproducing the famous text of L'OBEISSANCE PASSIVE: "O soldats de l'an deux ! O guerres ! épopées...", with a handwritten letterhead: "Applause and thanks, Victor Hugo-juin 1870".
Folded in three parts, the consignment, stamped with a 1 p. red English stamp, is cancelled at departure and delivery from Guernsey on 1st July 1870, passing through London, then Paris, with arrival in Vincelles (Yonne) on 3rd July 1870. Interesting folding and postal route of this mailing, at the time when Victor Hugo was about to return to Paris, putting an end to his exile.
