DELACROIX Eugène (1798-1863)

L.A.S. Samedi soir [verst 1820], to his cousin Zélie de VERNINAC| 1 page in-8 (marks of folds, laminated letter, heraldic stamp of the collection of Bonnemains).
Rare letter of youth. "I'm sending you, my dear Zélie, the two roles of Victoria and Francisco so that on Sunday we'll be able to do a little rehearsal. Observe from me to Miss Juliet that if she refuses my role, I'm a desperate man. I agree that it is a rather tiresome thing to have to spout prose and little verses as poor as mine: but I beg her to pass them on to me in favour of the intention and to ensure the success of my play by taking on a role, if not to give me the most sensitive pleasure, at least to oblige you yourself. Try to recruit me two wigglers. I feel in a dreadful dearth of singing actors"...
