Long letter on his efforts in favour of
the Academy.

The minister asked Father ROCHON "if he wanted to give up the functions for which he had emolumens. He replied that he did not and that he was leaving for Brest, with the intention of exercising them there"| if he really fulfils his duties as librarian, "one cannot dispute his salary. I then presented the wish that the Academy should ask the King to pay for the engraving of the plates of the dictionary. He replied that he was pleased that the King not only had the plates engraved by the best engraver, but also had the work printed by the printers hired at the war house, in the format decided by the Academy| that the Academy would send the books here and that the printing would be followed by some of its members living in Paris or Versailles". He suggested that a copy of the Academy's memoirs be given to the Duke of CHARTRES "who has taken to Brest and who maintains a tender attachment to the Marine Corps" ...
