BOREL Pétrus (1809-1859).

L.A.S. with DRAWINGS to Arsène HOUSSAYE| 2 pages in-fol. address.
Borel sends to Houssaye an anecdote about Choderlos de LACLOS "standing and silent" in a living room where two ladies, "one brunette, the other blonde", have just entered| he then improvises a madrigal of five verses, which Borel transcribes: "From white to black, the difference is great"... He says: "Near Laclos was the Marquis de Trion de Montalembert who heard him & held him back. This madrigal preserved in his memory has never been printed
"...

The letter is entirely decorated in the margins with astonishing pen drawings: on the entire height of the first page, a large fancy bird| on the second page, large decorative arabesques
