Vera jurisconsultorum philosophia. S.l.n.a. [to privilege: 1626]. In-4, brown morocco, gilt edges of castors, plates covered with Lorraine crosses, in the centre and corners crowned C cipher, spine decorated with the same emblems and cipher, gilt tenches (contemporary binding).
Original edition, decorated with an engraved title-frontispiece signed J.
de Courbes.
Louis Malquyt, jurisconsult of Lorraine, was a lawyer at the Parliament of Paris. copy of dedication to the number and emblem of charles iv, duke of Lorraine
and bar.
At the bottom of the frontispiece, signature of the time: de Fourcroy, probably that of Bonaventure de Fourcroy, lawyer at the Parliament of Paris since 1645, died in
1691, from the
Arthur Dinaux library (II, 1864, n°433
).
The title that would give the name of the publisher seems to be missing. Missing the last sheet (blank or printer's mark?). The guards are missing. Marginal brown spot on the first 6 leaves. A restored corner.
