The Cupido Butterfly. Reprinted from the only known copy of the Lyon edition, 1543. With a Bibliographic Record by Philomneste junior. Geneva, J. Gay and Sons, 1868. In-12, full overlay wove vellum, double gilt fillet, smooth spine, brown title coin, gilt head, untrimmed (contemporary binding).
Satirical and often very free poem in which a lover, changed into a butterfly by Cupid, travels the world in this form and relates the scandalous events he witnessed in Paris, Rome and in the convents (cf. Gay-Lemonnyer, vol. III, col
. 622-623).
