Bernard Gast, who is also a psychoanalyst and philosopher, is a painter and poet whose work is described as ‘Painting with Cinema’.
‘(His) work is derived from films and created using 35mm film. Since the 1990s, the artist has been creating ‘Paintings’ with Cinema. And even though his work resembles Photography, this artist pioneers a new way of thinking about Painting in the light of Cinema. A new aesthetic concept has been born: ‘Painting with Cinema!’. This return to Painting through Cinema leads curator Olivier Michelon to say that this ‘work is far more pictorial than a Painting’.
