Citroën 2 CV Charleston 1990 9 km on the odometer Never registered Chassis number: VF7AZKA171949 New car, never registered Most emblematic model, Delage red Charleston A real time capsule The car illustrating these pages is a brand-new Citroën 2 CV Charleston in Delage red from 1990: it has never been sold... nor registered, and has remained in exceptional condition since 1990. A unique fact: the bodywork parts that are supposed to receive the number plates are completely undrilled, and even more unique, the car has the very rare CERFA document n°96-4761, otherwise known as the “Application for a new vehicle registration certificate”. The condition of the vehicle is of course absolutely incredible... Every detail is to the point: the tyres have never been re-inflated (the air is “factory original “), the fluids (engine and gearbox oil, brake fluid) are those put in at the factory, all the factory labels and markings are present, and the interior “smells like new”. It is no exaggeration to say that this car is a real time capsule. No “new” 2CV (we’ve seen one or two) has less than 9km on the clock, and it’s likely that this corresponds to the distance between the various assembly workshops, and the short test drive the cars were subjected to before delivery. The very few “new” 2CVs already seen on the market were sold at the time and stored by their owners for speculation| this one was never sold, for personal reasons to the garage owner who is now disposing of it, having been off the radar since 1990. It is rare to find unsold cars of this period, and we offer you the opportunity to acquire an incredible example of the most iconic of cars.  In a nod to its history, the 2CV was presented in its final version in the nave of the Grand Palais during the first post-war Motor Show in 1948. Between the metallic grey AC 109 Type A unveiled on 7 October 1948 and the grey Charleston that rolled off the production line at the Mangualde factory in Spain on 27 July 1990, 5,114,961 Citroën 2CVs were produced, all versions and series combined. The sale of this exceptional Charleston here was an obvious choice. For those who need to understand the place of the 2CV in French history, the following lines will be useful. In 1935, Citroën, bankrupt, was bought by the Michelin family, who had made their fortune with their tyre factory. Gone was André Citroën, the new boss was Pierre Michelin. But when he was killed in a car accident, Pierre-Jules Boulanger, an engineer by training and until then director of commercial services at Michelin, was called in. To turn the company around, he was forced to lay off some of the staff, but also to put an end to some interesting projects, including the legendary Traction 22 CV with a V8 engine. As part of this rationalization policy, he had his teams work on a car intended for a rural and hard-working population with few resources. The specifications were simple: the future car had to have four seats and to be able to carry 50 kg of luggage at 60 km/h, without exceeding a fiscal power of 2 HP, while being easy to maintain and economical. It must also be able to cross a ploughed field at full speed with a basket of eggs without breaking a single one... The design office was given carte blanche to explore some of the most original solutions. On September 1, 1939, 250 cars were assembled, ready to be launched on the market. But on 3 September, war was declared. The cars (except three, which remained hidden until 1998) were dismantled and destroyed. Nevertheless, studies continued during the war, and after the Liberation, a new air-cooled engine and an astonishing trailing arm suspension were introduced. What happened next? You know it now!

Fait d’ailleurs unique : les éléments de carrosserie sensés recevoir les plaques d’immatriculation sont vierges de tout perçage, et plus rare encore, la voiture dispose du rarissime document CERFA n°96-4761, autrement appelé « Demande de certificat d’immatriculation d’un véhicule neuf ». L’état du véhicule est bien entendu absolument incroyable… Chaque détail est à l’avenant : les pneus n’ont jamais été regonflés (l’air est « d’origine Citroën »), les fluides (huile moteur et boîte de vitesses, liquide de frein) sont ceux mis à l’usine, toutes les étiquettes et les marquages usine sont présents, et l’habitacle « sent le neuf ». Il n’est pas exagéré de dire que cette voiture est une véritable machine à remonter le temps. Aucune 2 CV « neuve » (on en a déjà vue une ou deux) ne totalise moins de 9 km, et il est probable que cela corresponde à la distance séparant les différents ateliers de montage, et au court essai auxquelles les voitures étaient soumises avant leur livraison. Les quelques très rares 2 CV « neuves » déjà vues sur le marché ont à l’époque été vendues, et stockées par leurs propriétaires dans une démarche de spéculation | celle-ci n’a au contraire jamais été vendue, pour des raisons personnelles au garagiste qui s’en sépare aujourd’hui, sortant des écrans radar depuis 1990. Il est rarissime de trouver des voitures invendues d’époque, et nous vous offrons ici l’opportunité d’acquérir un incroyable exemplaire de la plus iconique des automobiles Petit clin d’œil à l’histoire, la 2 CV est présentée dans sa version définitive sous la nef du Grand Palais, à l’occasion du premier Salon de l’Automobile d’après-guerre, en 1948. Entre la Type A gris métallisé AC 109 dévoilée le 7 octobre 1948 à la Charleston grise qui sort de la chaîne de production de l’usine espagnole de Mangualde le 27 juillet 1990, 5 114 961 Citroën 2 CV auront vu le jour toutes versions et séries confondues. Telle une évidence, la vente de cette Charleston exceptionnelle devait se tenir en ces lieux. Pour ceux qui auraient besoin de saisir la place de la 2 CV dans l’histoire de France, les lignes qui vont suivre seront utiles. En 1935, Citroën, en faillite, est rachetée par la famille Michelin, qui a fait fortune avec sa manufacture de pneumatiques. Exit André Citroën, le nouveau patron s’appelle Pierre Michelin. Mais lorsque celui-ci se tue dans un accident de la route, on fait appel à Pierre-Jules Boulanger, ingénieur de formation et jusque-là directeur des services commerciaux chez Michelin. Pour redresser la firme aux chevrons, il est contraint de licencier une partie des effectifs, mais aussi de mettre fin à d’intéressants projets, dont celui de la légendaire Traction 22 CV à moteur V8. Dans cette politique de rationalisation, il fait travailler ses équipes sur une voiture destinée à une population rurale et besogneuse, disposant de peu de moyens. Le cahier des charges est simplissime : la future voiture doit disposer de quatre places et pouvoir transporter 50 kg de bagages à 60 km/h, sans excéder une puissance fiscale de 2 CV, tout en étant facile d’entretien et économique. Elle doit en plus pouvoir traverser un champ labouré à pleine vitesse avec un panier d’œufs sans en casser un seul... Le bureau d’études à carte blanche et va explorer des solutions parmi les plus originales. Le 1er septembre 1939, 250 voitures tout juste homologuées sont assemblées, prêtes à être lancées sur le marché. Mais le 3 septembre, la guerre est déclarée. Les voitures (sauf trois, qui resteront cachées jusqu’en 1998) sont démontées et détruites. Les études continuent néanmoins pendant la durée du conflit, et dès la Libération, un nouveau moteur refroidi par air et une étonnante suspension à bras tirés voient le jour. La suite ? Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Equation of Time (Geneva 12:36) Ref. 26603 ST Case No. 0028 / H 05657 The equation of time, the difference between mean and solar time, is one of the rarest complications used in watch-making since the middle of the 18th century, particularly amongst the greatest watchmakers of the Lumières. It was only natural that Audemars Piguet should launch a model featuring this complication with the iconic Royal Oak design from 2010, either in steel or rose gold. If we look at the quality of the finishing of this piece with several complications, we find all the strengths of the manufacture concentrated in an exceptional watch. What’s more, the fact that this example is calculated on the zenith of the sun in Geneva, i.e. 12:36, gives this version an additional attraction when one knows the prestige of the city of Geneva for fine watchmaking pieces. The Royal Oak Equation du Temps (Genève 12h 36) is equipped with the caliber 2120 which also offers the sunrise/sunset complication, a function that can also be found on antique watches of the great Swiss watch manufacturers who have used this horological complication since the 19th century, so complex to set up because of the position of the sun according to the different seasons.  In short, it is rare to be able to acquire a timepiece of this importance that is only sporadically sold at auction, Audemars Piguet being one of the leading brands in Switzerland and contributing to the influence of its watchmaking heritage, as well as to the cultural exception of Swiss watchmaking, since the opening in 2020 of its museum in Le Brassus in the Vallée de Joux.

Et il était donc normal que la maison Audemars Piguet lance un modèle sous le design icone de la Royal Oak à partir de 2010 soit dans une version en acier ou or rose. Si l’on regarde la qualité de finition de cette pièce dotée de plusieurs complications, on retrouve bien sur tous les atouts de la manufacture concentrés dans une montre d’exception. Egalement le fait que cet exemple soit calculé sur le zénith du soleil à Genève, soit 12h36, donne à cette version un attrait supplémentaire lorsque l’on connaît le prestige de la ville de Genève pour les pièces de haute horlogerie. La Royal Oak Equation du Temps (Genève 12h 36) est doté du calibre 2120 qui propose également la fonction du lever et coucher du soleil, fonction que l’on retrouve aussi sur les montres anciennes des grandes manufactures horlogères suisses ayant utilisées cette complication horlogère depuis le XIX e siècle,  si complexe à mettre en place du fait de la position du soleil suivant les différentes saisons. En résumé, rares sont les occasions de pouvoir acquérir une pièce de cette importance qui ne passe que sporadiquement en ventes aux enchères, Audemars Piguet étant l’une des marques phares en Suisse et contibuant au rayonnement de son patrimoine horloger, ainsi qu’à l’exception culturelle de l’horlogerie Suisse, depuis l’ouverture en 2020 de son musée au Brassus dans la vallée de Joux.

Porsche 356 AT 2 1600 S Convertible D 1958 French title Chassis n°: 85852 Engine n°: 83093 Rarer than a Speedster Very nice condition Matching numbers S version 75 hp The 356 was the first car to officially bear the Porsche name and was launched on the 8th of June 1948, date of its homologation in Gmünd, Austria. Whereas the prototype had a tubular chassis and a mid-engine, the production version had a selfsupporting body and a rear overhung engine (a 4-cylinder with a cubic capacity of 1,086 cc), like the famous Volkswagen from which it was now derived. Until 1951, fifty-two examples of this first 356 (aluminum body) were produced in the Gmünd sawmill, which was converted into a factory. The brand then moved to Zuffenhausen, in the suburbs of Stuttgart, and moved from a craft industry to mass production, with the appearance of a new 1300 (actually 1,286cc then 1,290cc) then 1500 (1,488 cc) engines, and steel bodies. In 1956, the 356 “pre-A” (apocryphal name), characterized by its twopart windscreen, was replaced by the 356 A, available in 1300 and with a new 1600 engine (1,582 cm3), and now identifiable by its panoramic windscreen. Although the 356 was available from the start as a cabriolet, 1955 saw the appearance of the iconic Speedster. It was Max Hoffman, the famous New York dealer of German origin, who ordered a more spartan and - above all - low-cost version of the production convertible from Porsche. The man who ran the showroom at 430 Park Avenue was also the “father” of the legendary Mercedes 300 SL Coupé Gullwing and BMW 507 Roadster, as well as a short-lived Porsche 356 Convertible that appeared in 1958. If the Speedster found its public, some customers reproached it for its too basic comfort, and in particular a too low windscreen or its not very practical retractable mica windows. The new Convertible D, exclusively bodied by the Karosseriwerke Drauz as its name indicates, offers a style very close to the Speedster, but has more refined and practical finishes, including a higher windscreen providing better protection from the wind and bad weather, and incidentally a bonnet offering more space. The interior was also more luxurious, better finished, with more comfortable seats and glass windows that could be retracted by a classic crank system. Only available in 1600, the flatfour was available under the rear bonnet in Normal 60 hp (type 616/1) or Super 75 hp (type 616/2) versions. Between August 1958 and September 1959, only 1,331 Porsche 356 A Convertible Ds were produced... compared to 1,750 Speedster models. The Convertible D is therefore undeniably one of the rarest production Porsche 356s.  The car illustrated on these pages is one of the very rare 356 A’s bodied as a Convertible by Drauz, and one of the much sought after 1600 Super with a 75 bhp engine. While the vast majority of models were sent to the USA at the request of importer Max Hoffman, 85852 is a European model that left the factory on 17 December 1958 and was delivered to its first owner six days later, a GI then stationed in Germany. It was painted in the original Ivory colour, with optional European standard bumpers, Metzeler tyres, reclining seats and a tool kit. A photo of the car in front of a Volkswagen dealership in this configuration is on file. It was marked K2974. The car was in the United States for a while, but was later bought by a collector living in eastern France. Then repainted in the very elegant Meissen Blue, it is a regular participant in the Coupe des Alpes organised by Rallystory.  The current owner took possession of the car in October 2006 from the renowned specialist Serge Heitz. Restored in the early 2000’s with a perfect color combination of black, red leather and a beige canvas top, its interior is embellished with a nice Nardi wooden steering wheel and the sound of the Porsche 4-cylinder engine is enhanced by a Carrera twin tailpipe muffler in accordance with the original one. Perfectly maintained at Porsche Velizy first and then by Valentin Kaiser, a great specialist of the model in the Paris region, the behavior of this Convertible D does not suffer any criticism. During our test drive, we appreciated the handling of this model but above all the liveliness of its perfectly prepared engine. If the steering is precise, the gear changes are just as good and provide a real additional pleasure to the whole. The brakes, which have been recently reworked, perform well with a pleasant pedal attack without any vibration or movement in the steering, proof of the optimal adjustment of the running gear.  Riding regularly at classic car rallies or on short trips around Paris, this car is as enjoyable to drive as it is exclusive on the collector’s market! As 356 enthusiasts know, the Convertible D is vastly underpriced compared to a Speedster, even though the two models are very similar in design and philosophy. Offering more comfort... and waterproofing, this very nice example will delight the most demanding gentlemen - and women - drivers.

Porsche 356 AT 2 1600 S Convertible D 1958 Carte grise française Châssis n°: 85852 Moteur n° : 83093 Plus rare qu’un Speedster Très bel état d’usage Matching numbers Version S 75 ch Première voiture portant officiellement le nom de Porsche, la 356 voit le jour le 8 juin 1948, date de son homologation à Gmünd, en Autriche. Alors que le prototype disposait d’un châssis tubulaire et d’un moteur en position centrale, la version de série se caractérise par sa coque autoporteuse et son moteur (un 4-cylindres cubant 1 086 cm3) en porte-àfaux arrière, comme la célèbre Volkswagen dont elle dérive désormais. Jusqu’en 1951, cinquante-deux exemplaires de cette première 356 (caisse alu) sortiront de la scierie de Gmünd, reconvertie en usine. La marque déménage ensuite à Zuffenhausen, en banlieue de Stuttgart, et passe de l’artisanat à la grande série, avec l’apparition de nouvelles motorisations 1300 (en fait 1 286 puis 1 290 cm3 ) puis 1500 (1 488 cm3 ), et de carrosseries acier. En 1956, exit la 356 « pré-A » (appellation apocryphe), caractérisée par son parebrise en deux parties, place à la 356 A,  disponible en 1300 et avec un nouveau moteur 1600 (1 582 cm3), et désormais identifiable à son parebrise panoramique. Si la 356 est disponible depuis le début en version cabriolet, l’année 1955 voit l’apparition de l’iconique Speedster. C’est Max Hoffman, le célèbre dealer New-Yorkais d’origine allemande, qui commande à Porsche une version plus spartiate et – surtout – low cost du cabriolet de série. L’homme qui tient le showroom installé au 430 Park Avenue, sera aussi le « père » des légendaires Mercedes 300 SL Coupé Gullwing et BMW 507 Roadster, et d’une éphémère Porsche 356 Convertible apparue en 1958. Si le Speedster trouve son public, certains clients lui reprochent en effet son confort trop basique, et notamment un pare-brise trop bas ou ses peu pratiques vitres escamotables en mica. Le nouveau Convertible D, exclusivement carrossé par la Karosseriwerke Drauz comme son nom l’indique, offre un style très proche du Speedster, mais dispose de finitions plus raffinées et plus pratiques à l’usage, parmi lesquelles un parebrise plus haut protégeant mieux du vent et des intempéries, et incidemment une capote offrant plus d’espace. L’intérieur également plus luxueux, mieux fini, bénéficie de sièges plus confortables et de vitres en verres escamotables par un système classique à manivelle. Disponible uniquement en 1600, on retrouvait sous le capot arrière, le flat-four en version Normal 60 ch (type 616/1) ou Super 75 ch (type 616/2). Entre août 1958 et septembre 1959, seuls 1 331 exemplaires de Porsche 356 A Convertible D verront le jour… contre 1 750 Speedster. La Convertible D est donc indéniablement l’une des Porsche 356 de série les plus rares de la production Porsche.  La voiture qui illustre ces pages est l’une de ces très rares 356 A carrossée en Convertible par Drauz et, l’une des très recherchées 1600 Super à moteur 75 ch. Si la grande majorité des modèles furent envoyés aux Etats-Unis à la demande de l’importateur Max Hoffman, 85852 est un modèle européen sortie d’usine le 17 décembre 1958 et livré à son premier propriétaire six jours plus tard, un GI alors en poste en Allemagne. Elle arborait alors une teinte Ivory d’origine, avec en option des pare-chocs aux normes européennes, des pneus Metzeler, des sièges inclinables et une trousse à outils. On retrouve d’ailleurs au dossier une photo de la voiture devant une concession Volkswagen dans cette configuration. Elle portait l’immatriculation K2974. Un temps aux Etats-Unis, la voiture sera ensuite achetée par un collectionneur résidant dans l’Est de la France. Alors repeinte dans la très élégante teinte Meissen Blue, elle est une participante régulière de la Coupe des Alpes organisée par Rallystory.  C’est auprès du spécialiste reconnu Serge Heitz que son propriétaire actuel en prendra possession en octobre 2006. Restaurée au début des années 2000 avec un combiné de couleurs parfait, noir, cuir rouge avec une capote en toile beige, son habitacle est agrémenté d’un joli volant bois Nardi et le son du 4 cylindres Porsche d’un silencieux Carrera à deux sorties conforme à celui d’époque. Parfaitement entretenu chez Porsche Velisy dans un premier temps puis par Valentin Kaiser, grand spécialiste du modèle en région parisienne, le comportement de ce Convertible D ne souffre pas la critique. Lors de notre essai, nous avons apprécié la tenue de route de ce modèle mais surtout la vivacité de son moteur parfaitement préparé. Si la direction est précise, les changements de rapports le sont aussi et procurent un vrai agrément supplémentaire à l’ensemble. BERNAR VENET (né en 1941) Bernar Venet i s a French visual artist, born on April 20, 1941 in the Alpesde-Haute-Provence. He lived more than 50 years in the United States where he became known for his steel sculptures and his conceptual art, a movement of which he is the main French representative. He currently resides in the South of France, in Le Muy in the Var, where he opens his doors each year for summer exhibitions of his Venet Foundation, a foundation established under American law in 2014. His arrival in Nice in 1957 and his contacts with the art world led him to meet Ben, Arman and Martial Raysse in 1961. This period marked the beginning of a long journey for him, which would lead him to conceptual art. Working in monochrome, Venet used several techniques, first industrial paint and then tar, according to him the most direct path to black, which he considered the most absolute color. In 1966, Venet moved to the United States and with the help of Arman, he met great figures such as Donald Judd with whom he became friends. He then immersed himself in minimal art and developed a growing interest in mathematics. Bernar Venet began to create conceptual paintings using scientific and mathematical information and exhibited alongside Donald Judd, Sol LeWitt, Carl André and Dan Flavin. By the 1970s, he was recognized as a major figure in conceptual art. As part of this movement, which is based on a precise and orderly conception of any work, Bernar Venet is logically interested in mathematics. He saw it as a way of extending the field of art, of proposing an additional path to the opposition of figuration and abstraction, since mathematical language is universal and can be interpreted in only one way. From then on, the work can be interpreted in different ways, but the mathematical formula from which it results can on the other hand be looked at with only one level of interpretation, it is monosemic by nature, a notion dear to the artist. From 1976 onwards, Bernar Venet explored the line as a mean of expressing his theories. His unanimously recognized work has been the subject of exhibitions in the most prestigious institutions,such as the Château de Versailles in 2011. Bernar Venet’s monumental sculptures have also found their way into international urban spaces in Auckland, Berlin, Denver, Paris, Nice and Seoul, as well as into private collections.  The work we are presenting today, Position of Two Indeterminate Lines, from 1983, is characteristic of Bernar Venet’s work at that time, the year of his transition to monumental sculpture. The Indeterminate Line serie, begun in 1979 in wood and then around 1984 in steel, is the materialization of the artist’s theories and research on the nature of lines: geometric (straight, curved, angle) or random (indeterminate line). He proposes works that he conceives as “self-referential” with a single degree of meaning, which exist by and for themselves, without external intervention. This approach joins the broader framework of conceptual art in which the conception of the work is more important than its realization.

Dès les années 1970, il est reconnu comme une figure majeure de l’art conceptuel. Alors qu’il s’inscrit dans la démarche de ce mouvement qui se base sur une conception précise et ordonnée de toute œuvre, Bernar Venet s’intéresse logiquement aux mathématiques. Il y voit en effet un moyen d’étendre le domaine de l’art, de proposer une voie de plus à l’opposition figuration abstraction puisque le langage mathématique est universel et ne s’interprète que d’une seule façon. Dès lors, l’œuvre peut être interprétée de différentes manières, mais la formule mathématique dont elle résulte ne peut en revanche se regarder qu’avec un seul niveau d’interprétation, elle est monosémique par nature, notion chère à l’artiste. Puis à partir de 1976, Bernar Venet va explorer la ligne comme moyen d’expression de ses théories. Son travail unanimement reconnu a fait l’objet d’expositions dans les institutions les plus prestigieuses comme en 2011 au château de Versailles. Les sculptures monumentales de Bernar Venet s’installent également dans l’espace urbain international que ce soit à Auckland, Berlin, Denver, Paris, Nice ou Séoul, ainsi que dans des collections privées.  L’œuvre que nous présentons aujourd’hui, Position de deux lignes indéterminées, de 1983 est caractéristique du travail de Bernar Venet à cette époque, il s’agit d’ailleurs de l’année du passage à la sculpture monumentale. La série Ligne indéterminée, commencée en 1979 en bois et puis vers 1984 en acier, est la matérialisation des théories et des recherches de l’artiste sur la nature des lignes : géométrique (droite, courbe, angle) ou aléatoire (ligne indéterminée). Il propose des œuvres qu’il conçoit comme « auto référentielles » avec un seul degré de signification, qui existent par et pour elles-mêmes, sans intervention extérieure. Cette démarche rejoint le cadre plus large de l’art conceptuel dans lequel la conception de l’œuvre est plus importante que sa réalisation.

The model we present was given as a birthday present by Hélène Pastor to her son Gildo Pastor-Pallenca in April 2007. Registered in Monaco, he kept it until 2011 before selling it to its second owner, Mr. Maurice Eustache, emblematic boss of the Radio Fréquence Plus group. With just over 13,000 km in 2014, its third and current owner took possession of it in October to replace his Ford GT, which he considered too spartan. At its wheel, Norway, Croatia, Italy, Switzerland and many other destinations were reached at unavowable speeds, all in the comfort worthy of a great GT. Regularly maintained at authorized dealerships, it will be given to its future owner with all its manuals and service book in French, its duplicate keys and of course the maintenance invoices. Je me rappelle encore des comparatifs dans la presse spécialisée, journaliste automobile me semblait alors être le métier le plus cool du monde ! La SLR avait une gueule d’enfer, des performances ahurissantes et une qualité de finition irréprochable lui permettant de séduire une clientèle large allant de Fernando Alonso, à Kanye West en passant par Paris Hilton. Bien sûr, ces trois « people » avaient en commun un certain sens du spectacle mais aussi un sérieux compte en banque leur permettant de rouler quotidiennement dans un supercar… Là résidait le coup de maître de Gordon Murray.  Quoi de mieux que de lui laisser la parole pour nous dire ce que représente pour lui « La Flèche d’Argent de demain » : Elle était incroyablement solide et rigide et je suis encore très fier de cette structure. C’était la voiture la plus sûre et la plus rigide jamais produite par Mercedes et de loin, elle l’est sans doute encore aujourd’hui. Dans ma carrière, c’est une voiture significative car elle était conçue pour un grand constructeur qui nous a laissé tout faire. C’est une dont je suis le plus fier ! (One Formula, GM) Avec ses prises d’air et ses sorties d’échappement latérales ainsi que ses portes papillon s’ouvrant en élytres, la SLR est le descendant direct du légendaire coupé 300 SLR créé par Uhlenhat en 1955. En tout point, elle exprime la sportivité et anticipe l’avenir grâce à l’association de Mercedes-Benz et McLaren en matière de sport automobile.  Le modèle que nous présentons fut offert en cadeau d’anniversaire par Hélène Pastor à son fils Gildo Pastor-Pallenca en avril 2007. Immatriculée à Monaco, il la conservera jusqu’en 2011 avant de la céder à son deuxième propriétaire, M. Maurice Eustache, emblématique patron du groupe de Radio Fréquence Plus. Affichant un peu plus de 13 000 km en 2014, son troisième et actuel propriétaire en prendra possession au mois d’octobre en remplacement de sa Ford GT qu’il jugeait trop spartiate. A son volant, la Norvège, la Croatie, l’Italie, la Suisse et bien d’autres destinations seront rejointes à des vitesses inavouables le tout dans un confort digne d’une grande GT. Régulièrement entretenue dans le réseau, elle sera remise à son futur propriétaire avec l’ensemble de ses manuels et carnet d’entretien en français, de son double des clefs et bien sûr des factures d’entretiens. Révisée intégralement en décembre 2015 pour plus de 14 000 € dans le réseau (Stain), la voiture a depuis bénéficié les révisions d’usage en 2018 et plus récemment encore avec le changement des deux batteries et des quatre pneus. Totalisant 47 186 km au compteur, cette SLR fait honneur à la réputation de ses concepteurs tant son état est irréprochable.  Sous-évaluée, la SLR est très clairement un modèle à ne pas sous-estimer tant elle excelle dans tous des domaines. Les valeurs de ses concurrentes de l’époque ont doublé et il ne fait aucun doute que la signature de celle que nous vous présentons aujourd’hui sera demain l’un de ses principaux atouts. Il suffit de le savoir maintenant pour faire le bon choix avant les autres …

Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta SWB (c) 1962 English title Chassis no: 3369GT Engine no.: 3369 The most beautiful Ferrari produced for racing and road use Aluminum bodywork by Bacchelli  €26,000 of recent invoices from Ferrari Pozzi Eligible for historic competitions including the Tour Auto and The Greatest Trophy by Peter Auto 1959 24 Hours of Le Mans: two Ferrari 250 GTs with a new, sublime Berlinetta bodywork by Pinin Farina took the start. The design was beautiful but remained a bit clumsy as they were bodied by Scaglietti on the standard wheelbase chassis (2.60 m). It was not until October 1959 that the final version, on a shortened chassis (2.41 m) was unveiled in the nave of the Grand Palais at the occasion of the long-awaited Salon de l’Automobile. Here it was, the 250 GT Passo Corto (short chassis in Italian) or Short Wheel Base (SWB) was officially born. PininFarina, which has since changed its name to a single word, has just signed its absolute masterpiece. This famous short wheelbase transformed not only the car’s streamlined bodywork, but also the handling of the iconic Ferrari 250 with improved roadholding, especially in curves where the car was more agile. In 1960 and 1961, the newcomer showed its arrogant performance on European circuits (three successive class victories at Le Mans!), where its 3.0-litre Colombo V12 engine, boosted to almost 300 bhp, was a real showpiece. To slow down the car (1,100 kg on the scale), the newcomer also inaugurated a new Dunlop disc brake system on all four wheels, replacing the ageing drums... The iconic Ferrari holds a special place in the history of the Cavallino Rampante, as it was designed for both racing and road use, achieving the perfect alchemy of performance and sculptural beauty. Between 1959 (three cars produced that year) and 1962, between 160 and 168 Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta SWBs left the Maranello workshops, including 75 cars with aluminum bodies for racing. The car we present is a recreation of one of these 75 Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta SWB Competizione. It was built by one of the brand’s greatest experts nine years ago with the sole aim of creating the most beautiful and most accurate recreation in existence. The best Italian workshops worked from a Ferrari 250 GTE delivered new in Rome in 1962, as the chassis, engine, axle and running gear of these two models are very similar. Over a period of three years between 2013 and 2016, the chassis was brought up to racing standards (wheelbase 2.41m) by the renowned specialist Reggiani near Modena, the bodywork was carried out by the Bacchelli & Villa workshop, also known as Carrozzeria Autosport in Bastiglia, and the engine passed into the expert hands of Toni Auto, a workshop based in Maranello. The gearbox was rebuilt in England by GTO Engineering and now has five gears, like the 250 GTO. All this work is meticulously documented in a very important photo file, which shows step by step the construction of the chassis and the different elements of the aluminum bodywork. The proportions, the creases, the alignments... the result is amazing. The quality of the paint is also to be underlined as the Avorio beige color is perfectly taut. The inside does not disappoint either! The controls are simple and where you would expect them to be: the long gear lever, the pedals, all the controls on the dashboard, the orange-brown upholstery, redone in Maranello by the famous Luppi company... The Ferrari atmosphere is there and the workmanship is perfect! Only the initiated will have noticed a steering wheel with reduced dimensions to facilitate the access to the bigger built men and the cigar lighter plug on the left of the steering wheel to connect a semblance of ambient modernity. During our test drive, which we preferred to carry out on the Circuit des Ecuyers, far from the Parisian traffic, we discovered all that makes the magic of such a car. There is the before, during and after... a whole ceremony announcing the magic to come. To tell you about the engine would be to repeat what so many others have written. The most surprising thing about this 250 GT Berlinetta SWB is the way it handles. It turns flat, crashing very lightly on its outer suspension to give you a good feel for its cornering speed. It brakes hard and for long if you know how to preserve the discs by using the engine brake. What about the gearbox? Both up and down, the gears engage with precision, firmness and exhilaration of the senses... let’s not be afraid of words! Coming out of a bend, accelerating as you exit, then plunging into another one and so on, crossing the 5,000 rpm mark and starting again... You can’t get enough of it! This car is in every respect a genuine Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta SWB aluminum, right down to the smallest details, such as the magnesium carburetors or the drive of the fuel pump by the left camshaft. Carefully maintained by its current owner, it has just come out of Ferrari Pozzi in Levallois-Perret for a fabulous engine rebuild, totaling just over 22,000 €. Beautiful, powerful, easy to handle, iconic... more than any other Ferrari, it is the quintessence of the genius of Enzo Ferrari and his men. Il faudra attendre octobre 1959 pour que la version définitive sur châssis raccourci (2,41 m) ne se dévoile sous la nef du Grand Palais à l’occasion du très attendu Salon de l’Automobile. Ca y est, la 250 GT Passo Corto (châssis court en italien) ou Short Wheel Base (en anglais, SWB) est officiellement née. PininFarina, qui a entretemps changé son nom en un seul mot, vient de signer son chef d’œuvre absolu. Ce fameux empattement court transforme non seulement la ligne très ramassée du bolide, mais aussi le comportement de l’iconique Ferrari 250 avec une tenue de route améliorée,notamment en courbe où la voiture se montre plus agile. En 1960 et 1961, la nouvelle venue va d’ailleurs faire montre de ses arrogantes performances sur les circuits européens (trois victoires de classes successives au Mans!), où son moteur V12Colombo de 3.0l de cylindrée poussé à près de 300 ch fait parler la poudre. Pour ralentir l’ensemble (1100 kg sur la balance), la nouvelle venue inaugure aussi un système à quatre freins à disque Dunlop, en remplacement des vieillissants tambours...L’iconique Ferrari tient une place à part dans l’histoire de la marque au Cavalino Rampante, puisqu’elle fut conçue à la fois pour la course et pour la route, réussissant la parfaite alchimie des performances et de la beauté sculpturale. Entre 1959 (trois exemplaires cette année-là) et 1962, entre 160 et 168 Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta SWB sortiront des ateliers de Maranello, parmi lesquels on dénombre 75 exemplaires carrossés en aluminium et destinés à la compétition. La voiture que nous présentons est une recréation de l’une de ces 75 Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta SWB Competizione. Elle fut réalisée par l’un des plus grands experts de la marque il y a neuf ans avec pour seul et unique objectif de réaliser la plus belle et la plus conforme recréation existante. C’est sur la base d’une Ferrari 250GTE ayant été livrée neuve à Rome en 1962 que les meilleurs ateliers italiens travailleront, châssis, moteur, pont et trains roulants étant en effet très proches sur ces deux modèles. Sur une période de trois ans entre 2013 et 2016, le châssis fut mis aux cotes compétition (empattement 2,41m) par le réputé spécialiste Reggiani près de Modène, la carrosserie fut réalisée par l’officine Bacchelli & Villa reconnue également sous le nom de Carrozzeria Autosport à Bastiglia et le moteur passa entre les mains expertes de Toni Auto, une officine installée à Maranello. La boîte de vitesses quant à elle fut refabriquée en Angleterre chez GTO Engineering et dispose à présent de cinq rapports comme les 250 GTO. Tout ce travail est minutieusement répertorié dans un très important dossier photos reprenant étape par étape la construction du châssis ou des différents éléments de la carrosserie en aluminium. Les proportions, les nervures, les alignements... le résultat est bluffant. La qualité de la peinture est également à souligner tant la teinte beige Avorio est parfaitement tendue. A l’intérieur, l’habitacle ne déçoit pas! Les commandes sont simples et là où on les attend: long levier de vitesse, le pédalier, l’ensemble des manos au tableau de bord, la sellerie de couleur marron orangé, refaite à Maranello par les célèbres Etablissements Luppi... L’ambiance Ferrari est là et la réalisa-tion est parfaite! Seuls les initiés auront repéré un volant aux dimensions réduites pour faciliter l’accès aux grands gabarits et la prise allume cigare à gauche du volant pour brancher un semblant de modernité ambiante. Lors de notre essai, que nous avons préféré réaliser sur le circuit des écuyers, loin de la circulation parisienne, nous avons découvert tout ce qui fait la magie d’une telle automobile. Il y a l’avant, le pendant et l’après... tout un cérémonial annonçant la magie à venir. Vous parler du moteur reviendrait à répéter ce que tant d’autres ont écrit. Le plus surprenant vient de son comportement, cette 250 GT Berlinetta SWB vire à plat, s’écrasant très légèrement sur ses suspensions extérieures pour bien vous faire sentir sa vitesse de passage en courbe. Elle freine fort et longtemps si l’on sait préserver les disques en utilisant le frein moteur. Que dire de la boite de

Big or small manufacturers, all saw a huge development and marketing potential to it. One after the other, they entered the sport, fighting for a place on the podium. In order to enter, the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile stipulated that competition cars had to be homologated and produced in small series. It was in this context that the Renault 5 Turbo was born.The engineers in Boulogne-Billancourt worked hard to beef up the modest city car: the R5 was considerably modified. The engine, a 1,397 cc, to which a Garret T3 turbo was added, was moved to a central rear position and the 5-speed gearbox came from the R30 TX. The bodywork was also extensively revised. R5 3-door hulls were taken from the production line at Dieppe to be modified at Heuliez,where they were widened by almost 23cm before finishing their assembly on the same assembly line as the Alpine A310, in Dieppe again.If the R5 Turbo is a real firecracker on the road, it is even more impressive on the rally stages, in the hands of professionals and amateurs. Renault Sport’s approach was original: unlike other manufacturers, the company wanted to offer its customer teams a car that performed as well as the factory version. This is how the “Cévennes” was born in 1981, a customer version of the R5 Turbo in Gr. 4. 20 examples were assembled by the factory, but it was also possible to assemble it thanks to different kits of 185, 200 or 250 hp.The car we are presenting today is a 1986 Renault 5 Turbo 2, the last year of production. Dedicated to competition use as soon as it left the factory, this car was sold in 1992 to its second owner Gilles Ciamin, stunt driver and father of WRC3 driver Nicolas Ciamin. He then sold it in 2015 to Patrick Duflot, owner of the famous racing guru Ferry Développement. Before selling it to its current owner, he had it restored and prepared in his workshop between June 2020 and March 2021. The car, which of course has its original body, was restored at great expense in Gr. B configuration. The engine was entirely rebuilt to Ferry Développement’s recognized standards and a short reinforced Cévennes gearbox was fitted. A Gr. B approved double wishbone front axle was fitted as well as carbon-Lorraine ventilated discs and 14-inch aluminum Minilite wheels. Safety equipment was not forgotten, with a Matter FIA roll bar meeting the latest specifications. The engine was run for five hours and 150km of testing was carried out to tune it after its restoration. Our test drive gave us an idea of the quality of its preparation. The turbo effect of its 235 hp is very present without being violent, with an incisive and precise handling and steering of the front axle. Braking is firm and balanced thanks to the new pedal box and steering changes are agile and precise. Fabulous to drive and wonderful to listen to, this Renault 5 Turbo 2 is certainly one of the most agile and well-tuned ‘Cévennes’ thanks to the expertise of Ferry Développement. A rally legend and a true French motoring heritage, this Renault is only begging to be brought back on special stages... and above all on the podium!

C’est dans ce contexte que naît la Renault 5 Turbo.Les ingénieurs de Boulogne-Billancourt se sont démenés pour bodybuilder la modeste citadine: la R5 est alors considérablement modifiée. Le moteur, un 1 397cm3 auquel on greffe un turbo Garret T3 passe en position centrale arrière et la boîte 5-vitesses provient de la R30 TX. Vingt exemplaires sont assemblés par l’usine, mais il était aussi possible de la monter grâce à différents kits de 185, 200 ou 250ch.La voiture que nous vous présentons aujourd’hui est une Renault 5 Turbo 2 de 1986, dernier millésime de la production. Dédiée à un usage en compétition dès sa sortie d’usine, cette voiture est cédée en 1992 à son deuxième propriétaire Gilles Ciamin, cascadeur et père du pilote en WRC3 Nicolas Ciamin. Il la cède ensuite en 2015 à Patrick Duflot, patron de l’incontournable préparateur Ferry Développement. Avant de la revendre à son actuel propriétaire, il la fera restaurer et préparer dans son atelier entre Juin 2020 et Mars 2021. La voiture, qui dispose bien évidemment de sa caisse d’origine, fut restaurée à grand frais en configuration Gr. B. Le moteur a été entièrement refait aux standards reconnus de Ferry Développement et une boîte de vitesses courte renforcée Cévennes y a été associée. Un train avant a double triangulation répondant à l’homologation Gr. B a été installé ainsi que des disques ventilés/plaquettes Carbone-Lorraine et des jantes Minilite 14 pouces en aluminium. Les équipements de sécurité n’ont pas été oubliés, un arceau Matter FIA répondant aux dernières spécifications ayant notamment été monté. Le moteur a été rôdé cinq heures et 150 km d’essais ont été réalisés pour la régler après sa restauration. Notre essai routier nous a permis de nous rendre compte de la qualité de sa préparation. L’effet turbo de ses 235 ch est bien présent sans être violent avec une tenue de route et un guidage du train avant incisif et précis. Le freinage est ferme et équilibré grâce à sa «pedal box» neuve et les changements de direction se font avec agilité et précision. Fabuleuse à conduire et merveilleuse à entendre, cette Renault 5 Turbo 2 est certainement l’une des «Cévennes» les plus agiles et mieux réglées grâce au savoirfaire de Ferry Développement. Légende des rallyes et véritable patrimoine automobile français, cette Renault ne demande qu’à retrouver la route des spéciales... et surtout des podiums!

Bentley 3 Litre 1922 English title FFVE certificate Chassis n°: 35 Engine n° 33 One of the oldest Bentley on record Original chassis and rare tourer bodywork since 1950 Eligible for Le Mans Classic and historic races Concours condition In the early 1910s, Walter-Owen Bentley ran a French car dealership in London with his brother. In 1914, he prepared a small DFP (Doriot-Flandrin-Parant) for racing, including aluminum pistons which were to become his trademark. After the First World War, W.-O. decided to build his own car and founded Bentley Motors Limited on the 10th of January 1919. He developed a beautiful aluminum-reinforced aircraft-inspired engine with an overhead camshaft, a 2,996 cc 4-cylinder engine putting out 70 bhp, associated to an interesting 4-speed gearbox. This is a “long-stroke” engine (149 mm for 80 mm bore) that offers very high torque and is characterized by an incredibly low idle (400 rpm) and by its silent operation. A first Bentley 3 Liter was presented at the London Motor Show of the same year| some parts were not ready in time and were made of wood and in trompe-l’oeil,but the car was already a great success! After the first three prototypes (EXP1, EXP2 and EXP3) the very first production car was marketed in September 1921. Initially regarded as a sports tourer, the Bentley 3 Liter became a genuine sports car when it won the second Le Mans 24 Hours race in 1924. The legend of the Bentley Boys and the Crewe factory was underway. The 3 Liter, the cornerstone of the marque, was built in 1,624 examples until 1928. The car we offer here is exceptional in more ways than one. Carrying chassis number 35, and originally equipped with engine number 33, it was registered XK 3010 on 19 January 1922 in the name of a certain H.-A. Baldwin, residing in the County of Durrey, a few miles from London. From the chassis number, we know that this was the 35th production car built, but more importantly the 40th Bentley ever made, including the few experimental cars.This very early 3 Liter therefore benefits from some rare and interesting features: it is indeed a short chassis (with a wheelbase of 9 ft. 9 ½ in.) lighter than the later Speed, fitted only with rear brakes, mounted on very nice and thin spoked wheels for beaded tyres, and originally fitted with a rather special engine... The big 3 Liter inline 4-cylinder engine has here a Speed-type camshaft, light pistons, and the famous Smiths five jet carburetor. W.-O. Bentley himself stated that this carburetor gave better performance than the two SU’s more commonly found in Bentleys... Mr. H.-A. Baldwin ordered his 3 Liter with a 4-seat coupé body from the respected Wilton Carriage Company. The copy of the factory records that accompanies the car shows a great deal of maintenance and improvements made at the factory, and a list of successive owners up to the early 1930s.It even shows that the car was under warranty from the time it left the factory until 1927! This six-year period shows the production quality of the car and the confidence that W.-O. Bentley had in its achievements. The car reappeared in the mid-1950s, complete to the last bolt, but without bodywork. It was at this time that George Strathdee, a well-known member of the Bentley Drivers Club, unearthed a beautiful and authentic tourer body, this time by Harrison, which had been removed from Bentley chassis No. 90 (destroyed). The car received a full-on restoration (engine, axle, chassis, bodywork) of the highest standard in the 1990s. It left England for the very first time in 2007, when it was acquired by its current owner, a French enthusiast of the first hour. Complete with all its accessories, this very authentic century-old Bentley presents itself to us in incredible working order,while offering remarkable performances that will still allow it to perform well in historic races, notably at Le Mans Classic for which the organizer has confirmed its eligibility (Plateau 1). It is also an ideal candidate to shine in Concours d’Elegance, or to go on a rally “by the road”, with friends or family, in a rare comfort for a car of this generation.

Baldwin, résidant dans le Comté du Durrey, à quelques encablures de Londres.D’après son numéro de châssis, on sait que c’est la 35e voiture de série construite, mais surtout la 40e Bentley jamais fabriquée, en incluant les quelques voitures expérimentales. Cette très ancienne 3Litre bénéficie donc de caractéristiques rares et intéressantes: c’est en effet un châssis court (short chassis, empattement 9 ft. 9 ½ in.) plus léger que celui de la Speed ultérieure, équipé uniquement de freins arrière, et monté sur de très jolies et fines jantes à rayons pour pneus à talons, et doté d’origine d’un moteur un peu spécial... Le gros 4-cylindres en ligne de 3 litres de cylindrée dispose en effet ici d’un arbre à cames de type Speed, de pistons légers et du fameux carburateur Smiths à cinq gicleurs. W.-O. Bentley himself indiquait d’ailleurs que ce carburateur permettait de meilleures performances que les deux SU que l’on trouve plus 108109Tour Auto Optic 2ooo, la vente anniversaire •30 août 2021fréquemment sur les Bentley... Monsieur H.-A. Baldwin commanda sa 3 Litre avec une caisse Coupé 4-places signée de la respectée Wilton Carriage Company. La copie des registres de l’usine qui accompagne la voiture indique un grand nombre d’entretiens et d’améliorations apportées à l’usine, et la liste des propriétaires successifs jusqu’au début des années 1930. On apprend ainsi que la voiture était garantie depuis sa sortie d’usine jusqu’en 1927! Un délai de six ans qui montre la qualité de fabrication de l’auto et la confiance que W.-O. Bentley avait dans ses réalisations. L’auto réapparait au milieu des années 1950, complète jusqu’au moindre boulon, mais sans carrosserie. C’est à ce moment-là que George Strathdee, membre reconnu du Bentley Drivers Club, déniche une magnifique et authentique carrosserie tourer, cette fois-ci signée Harrison, et ayant été démontée de la Bentley châssis n° 90 (détruite).La voiture bénéficiera d’une nouvelle restauration complète (moteur, pont, châssis, carrosserie) de très haut niveau dans les années 1990. Elle quitta l’Angleterre pour la toute première fois en 2007, année où elle fut acquise par son actuel propriétaire, un amateur français de la première heure. Complète de tous ses accessoires , cette très authentique Bentley centenaire se présente à nous dans un incroyable état de fonctionnement, tout en offrant des performances remarquables qui pourront encore la faire bien figurer en courses historiques, notamment au Mans Classic pour lequel l’organisateur nous a confirmé son éligibilité (Plateau 1). C’est aussi une candidate idéale pour briller en concours d’élégance, ou partir en rallye «par la route», entre amis ou en famille, dans un confort rare pour une auto de cette génération.
